If you are a new piano player either taking piano lessons with a teacher or piano lessons online, you know first hand the frustration of practicing over and over and still not getting it right.
Well, help is here! There are 3 very important tips that will help you to learn to play the piano fast, even if you are in the very beginning stages of learning.
1. Focus on learning and mastering chords first!
You must master your chords before attempting to move on to bigger challenges such as classical pieces. Many popular pieces are based around simple chords. If you can master these chords early on, not only will your experience be less frustrating, but you will very quickly be playing a much larger variety of popular music.
2. Practice sight reading!
Yes, this is another skill that you'd want to master. Just like typing, once you learn to type without looking at your fingers, you will find that looking down actually distracts you and causes you to type slower and even make more mistakes.
Same with playing piano! If you are serious about being a great piano player, you must master sight reading. This does take practice, but you can start practicing sight reading right away. Start with very easy songs, memorize them and practice playing without looking at your hands. Do this regularly and you will notice a major difference in a very short time.
3. Practice Together With Other Musicians
This is one of the greatest and fastest ways to learn. Practicing alone is definitely great, but practicing with others basically forces you to step up your game. You will improve your rhythm, your sight reading, and your musical ear!
You can practice with an actual band, a choir, one or two singers, or even just someone else playing the piano. Just find someone. It will make a world of difference!
